Pay TV on Indonesia

The number of operators of Pay TV in Indonesia has grown fast. In 1988, the operator of Pay TV began to enter the competition in the entertainment business with the launching of Indovision, the first Pay TV in Indonesia. Now, Some companies such MNC Skyvision, First Media, Aora, Telkom Vision and Oke Vision are participating in Indonesia pay TV industry.
Pay-TV is available via both cable and satellite transmission. Currently in Indonesia Pay TV is dominated more by satellite technology. Pay TV on Indonesia service features programming from international suppliers (such as HBO, Star TV, Discovery, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, National Geographic Channel, CNN International, Al Jazeera International, ESPN, Animal Planet etc) and local programming (Swara, RCTI, TPI, Global TV, ANTV, Indosiar, Metro TV, SCTV, Trans TV, Trans 7, TVRI, etc).

Indovision
PT MNC Skyvision under the INDOVISION brand name was incorporated on August 8, 1988. Indovision, as a pay TV operator satellite tv, has distributed more than 50 channels of digital S-band as well as local programming all over Indonesia. Using a digital satellite decoder with only 80 cm in diameter satellite dish, Indovision offers high quality services. Customer do not have to buy Indovision's hardware since Indovision will lend the hardware to the new subscribers with certain terms and conditions applied.
IndoVision offers a series of packages such Prime Star for Rp. 149,000 per month , Prime Sports for Rp. 149,000 per month , Prime Family for Rp. 149,000 per month , Prime GRANDE for Rp. 229,000 per month.
On Saturday, May 16, 2009, Indovision has successfully launched a satellite “Indostar II” from the Baikonur Kazakhstan, to replace the existing aging model. The new satellite will have the capacity to transmit 150 channels that will more than double their current channel line-ups (excluding channels for radio broadcast) being offered to their subscribers.

Top TV
MNC Skyvision also launched Top TV as its entry level package where Top TV subscribers have the ability to move up to premium channel lineups under the brand Indovision. They intend to increase the penetrations rates of pay TV in Indonesia by offering subscription prices that are more affordable to the wider segment of population. You only pay Rp 85,000 per month to wacth some international channels and local channels on Top TV.

Telkom Vision
TelkomVision is member of TELKOM Group. TelkomVision has a satellite tv service and cable TV service. For post paid, Telkom offers some package such PERUNGGU PACKAGE (Rp125,000), PERAK PACKAGE (Rp199,000) and EMAS PACKAGE (Rp.275,000).
Telkom Vision also launch a pre paid pay TV. Its’call pre paid pay TV because customers choose the program and buy a refill voucher. With TV vouchers, Telkom Vision give the people simple, flexible and affordable way to watch quality entertainment catered to suit their budget. Voucher prices ranges between Rp.30,000 and Rp.300,000.

Yes TV
Telkomvision also launched its newest satellite service, "Yes TV" Offering a package of up to 29 international channels and more than a dozen local channels. YES TV will attract new subscribers in the rural areas. Customers can choose the program and buy a refill voucher such Voucher Dunia Arena (sport such Star sports, ESPN etc) for Rp. 99,000 , Voucher Dunia Bahagia (32 channel) for Rp. 300,000 , Voucher Dunia Fantasi (Cartoon & Kids such Nickleodeon, carton Network etc) for Rp. 65,000 , Voucher Dunia Ceria (Family such Disney Channel, Star World etc) for Rp. 175,000, Voucher Dunia Gaya and Voucher Dunia Sinema (Movies such HBO, Cinemax,MGM etc) for Rp. 99,000 . However, unlike some of its competitors which provide decoders for free, Yes TV satellite dishes and top-boxes will cost consumers Rp 1.6 million.

First Media
First Media is a triple play Cable Television network in Indonesia. The products are Fastnet, HomeCable, and DataComm.
HomeCable is First Media's brand for cable TV service offering more than 66 channels broadcasting international and local stations through digital video and stereo audio qualities. Aora
AORA, the satellite pay TV platform of PT Karyamegah Adijaya, commenced its nation-wide broadcast activity in the beginning of August 2008 with a 10 channel introductory service, highlighting the 2008 Beijing Olympics. AORA won the offer for the pay TV sole rights in Indonesia to the Barclays Premier League (BPL) 2008/2009’s season and offered a new, 12- channel package service which includes ESPN and STAR Sports with BPL content. This allows AORA subscribers to watch in full the 370 BPL matches and selected LIVE matches in the 2008/2009 season, including preview shows and weekly highlights. Aora also has added Eurosport to its line-up, part of a shift in the operator’s strategy to widen its focus beyond soccer programming. AORA offering the 6-month, 10-channel Family Package with the special price of Rp. 550,000 (tax inc.),. With the refundable deposit of Rp. 200,000 for equipments and free installation, the total cost of the package is Rp. 750,000.

Oke Vision

There are some Pay TV on Indonesia. There are many pay tv that not mentioned above. Although most of the channels provided by pay-TV but many Indonesian people are very happy with free-to-air TV. People think they can get all the entertainment they want without paying.
